Pretty much everyone who knows me can tell you that I’m a travel nut. So how could I possibly pass up an opportunity to participate in the first Star Alliance “Mega Do”! (A “Do” is gathering of FlyerTalkers – www.flyertalk.com. FlyerTalk definitely has it’s own vocabulary…mostly consisting of abbreviations and acronyms.) So anyways…it’s off to the Do!
Today started on Continental Connection (operated by CommutAir) with a short 40 minute flight from Albany, NY to Newark, NJ. Nothing much to report about the flight with a couple exceptions. First, the Continental ground staff (who also handles Air Canada flights) was fantastic. Frequent updates on the inbound plane (even though it was early), friendly faces and upbeat attitudes. Certainly made for a pleasant wait at the tiny C1 gate. Second, I was a bit nervous about my gate checked bag making the flight! The flight was operated by a Bombardier Dash 8-200 (also referred to as a Q200) which is a relatively small turbo prop aircraft (think propellers instead of jet engines). Sure, they operate off the same technology…but there is still something neat about seeing the propeller. Anyways, these things tend to be weight restricted fairly regularly and today was no exception. Even without a full load of passengers, we were weight restricted on baggage. In the end, all the bags made it (and people too)!
Now I’m sitting in one of the President’s Clubs in the C terminal at Continental’s mega-hub that is Newark, NJ. I will report more when there’s something to report!

Cheers for now!
